Learn 2 Fly: The Emperor Strikes Back is a very funny upgrade-based flying game where you have to launch a dummy penguin through the air, and keep it airborne for as long as possible. The storyline centers around Peter the Penguin, who was recently very disappointed to find himself ridiculed in the list of 'non-flying birds' in a fictional internet site known as “Kiwipedia”, and he has vowed to prove everybody wrong! Unfortunately, his first attempt at flying naturally didn’t go to plan – so this time he’s using a penguin-shaped sack, and a lot of trial runs! Utilizing a whole host of wacky flying aides such as hi-tech gliding mechanisms, rocket-fueled propellers, super-charged sleds and more, you have to help prepare Peter for the flight of his life. Use virtual funds earned with each flight to 'slowly upgrade' your equipment, step by step, until Peter can make it all the way past the pesky iceberg that foiled his first time around in the past.

Fast reactions and good reflexes are also important as you have to carefully maneuver your penguin sack through obstacles, over mountains, and above the watery abyss. How to Play: Restore Peter’s reputation by proving that penguins can really fly! To do this, you have to slowly put together an awesome flying arsenal that destroys the big iceberg at the end of an absolutely vast side-scrolling Antarctic landscape. At the beginning of the game, all that you have to work with is a battered old penguin-shaped sack at the top of a hill. After you launch this down the hill (use the Arrow Keys on your computer keyboard to tilt it in the air), you earn virtual funds which can be used to purchase upgrades. After each launch, you are brought to the upgrade area where you can increase the height and length of the ramp as well as many other aspects that influence your dummy's flying success.

Upgrading your ‘Sleigh’ adds to the pace and power of your initial launch into the air. Upgrading your ‘Glider’ increases your chances of staying airborne for longer. ‘Boost’ allows you to increase your speed after the initial take-off, while upgrading the ‘Payload’ increases the destructive power of the dummy penguin. After you purchase a ‘Boost’ instrument (rocket / jet pack etc), you can then increase the fuel capacity of this instrument at the upgrade screen. Once you have completed your upgrading, click ‘Ready’ in the top right corner of the game screen to initiate the next launch.

While in flight, press Spacebar on your computer keyboard to activate your fuel-powered booster. Once your fuel runs out, the dummy penguin slows down considerably. You can also use the wind to increase your speed. Do this by rising high into the air before plummeting down, and rising back up using the burst of downward speed as a propeller.

After each flight, you are ranked on the ‘Distance’, ‘Altitude’, ‘Duration’, ‘Max Speed’, and ‘Destruction’ of that flight. The better each stat, the more virtual income you earn for that flight. There are 5 different obstacles that you can destroy along the way to earn extra funds. Once your dummy penguin is within range of these obstacles, a green marker appears, indicating the distance between the dummy penguin and the obstacle. Your dummy penguin has to be traveling at a good speed when it collides with these objects. Otherwise, it just stops dead on impact.
